Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas are approaching their 25th wedding anniversary
Catherine Zeta-Jones has given a surprisingly candid admission about what married life is really like with her husband, Michael Douglas.
The two first met back in 1998 at the Deauville Film Festival, and it didn’t take long for sparks to fly between them. Their instant chemistry quickly grew into something more serious.
By 1999, Douglas had proposed, and just a year later, in November 2000, they officially tied the knot in a lavish ceremony that captured the attention of fans around the world.
Over the years, the couple welcomed two children together—son Dylan, now 25, and daughter Carys, who is 22. Adding to the uniqueness of their bond, they also share the same birthday on September 25.
Although their relationship hit a rough patch in August 2013, leading to a temporary separation, the pair reunited the following year. Since then, they’ve managed to rebuild their marriage, and from the outside, things appear stronger than ever.
In a recent chat with Hello! magazine, Zeta-Jones opened up about her personality at home, admitting that her strong competitive streak can sometimes stir things up in their family dynamic.

When asked directly whether she considered their household competitive, the Mask of Zorro actress admitted: “Yes I do. We all unfortunately… We all [do]. But it’s a healthy one.”
The couple has openly reflected on their relationship many times over the years, often discussing how they weathered their 2013 split and found their way back to each other.
Douglas himself once addressed this during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2015, saying: “It can’t be a one-way street, But I’m crazy about her. And yeah, I think every couple has their difficult times. The only problem is, as you well know, we’re all in the public eye, and it tends to get a little more exposed than most. We’re back stronger than ever.”
